They indeed destroyed her laptop, with 3 mini-bombs, or they just shot it. With 3 “well aimed” shot they killed the laptop (with a . 50 caliber – it really had to die)

Now the fun part… they missed the hard disk. Luckily for the victim of course, she could recuperate all the work from the last years that she had stored.

So as long as the Israeli soldiers don’t get a training in computer technologies and shooting harddisks you could pass with luck. Otherwise buy yourself the armored Latitude E6400 XFR from Dell (extra steel plates welded on it is advised) and the Sonim XP1 to call assistance.

Yesterday an unknown individual (or individuals) stole a service car from Sodexho. In the margin of the theft, the news mentioned the amount of “dienstencheques” – service cheques – in the car and the repercussion this will have on paying back the companies working with these cheques.

What was astonishing, is the administration used to manage this system. Each cheque that has been used, is being copied as proof of use of this cheque, just to cover incidents as the stolen car.
So, a little calculation. Yearly (2008) almost 48.930.000 cheques were used. These cheques are copied on A3 paper. Each A3 paper contains the copies of 24 cheques.

This results in 2.038.750 sheets of paper (no they are not copied recto-verso). This will give you 856.275 meter paper, or 856 km, 5 km less than the distance between Antwerp and Copenhagen.

Lets calculate some time: About 2.5 minutes/copy: this will give you 48 employees who are working 8 hours/day and 220 days a year.

Instead of cutting back on the cheques, maybe they could improve the way of managing it.

iTunes 9 might be taking plenty of plaudits. But it seems it’s causing some serious issues for iPod classic owners, with a raft of reports about the newly minted music software failing to sync with the old–school PMP.

It appears iTunes 9 isn’t just about iTunes LP and iTunes Extras. Complaints on Apple Support forums, along with a lengthy list sent to AppleInsider, show that the software is causing the iPod classic to crash, fail to sync and lose its contents.

Users have complained that iTunes 9 fails to recognise the iPod classic, while one said that their 160GB model failed as soon as iTunes 9 was installed on Snow Leopard.

Hendrik Delagrange from Leuven was advised to buy a new ipod since – sayd by the Apple store in Leuven – his harddisk crashed. But he managed to get his Ipod back to work, with some simple Windows tools.
